Energy and Exergy Analysis on a Blast Furnace Gas-Driven Cascade Power Cycle

Blast furnace gas is the major combustible by-product produced in steel industry, where iron ore reduced by coke into iron. Direct combustion of blast after simple treatment for power generation a common utilization method nowadays. However, this suffers from low efficiency and high carbon intensity. The use gas-steam combined cycle an excellent to improve generation. there problem insufficient product heat, addition CCS system can further reduce efficiency. To solve these issues, new with Brayton supercritical CO2 Rankine transcritical proposed work. then thermodynamically simulated Aspen Plus, sub-modules are validated. effects molar ratio steam carbon, selexol/CO2 mass ratio, compression turbine import temperature inlet pressure on investigated. A comparison also performed between traditional system. results show that system, net 53.29%, capture 95.78% sulfur rate 94.46% be achieved, which significantly better than performance conventional cycle.
